Lewis Jordan graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering.
Prior to joining Flying Tigers in 1979, Jordan worked at Southern Airways (which later merged with Northwest) as assistant Vice President for technical operations.
From 1979-1982, he served as vice president of maintenance and engineering (1979-1980) and senior vice president of operations (1980-1982) for Flying Tigers. He left from 1982-1984 to serve as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Atlanta-based Air Treads Inc. before returning to Flying Tigers in Los Angeles (1984-1985) as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Lewis Jordan served as president and chief operating officer for two years from 1985-1986.
Jordan left Flying Tigers in 1986 to join Houston-based Continental Airlines. In 1993, he co-founded Atlanta-based ValuJet, which was acquired by Orlando-based AirTran Airways in 1997.
